Born August 26, 1986Cassandra Ventura is better known by her stage name Cassie. She is an American singer, model, and an actress. Cassie was born in New London, Connecticut. After graduating high school she moved to New York City to continue her music and modeling career.
Cassie released her first single "Me & U" in 2006. It became a major hit. Her self titled album, Cassie, was released in August 2006. It sold over 321,000 copies in the United States.
Cassie's Early Life
Cassie's father is Filipino and her mother is African-American. She attended Williams School in New London, Connecticut. While at school she trained as a singer and dancer. Cassie finished high school in 2004 and pursued her career in modeling and singing.
Music Career Cassie moved to New York after finishing high school. She continued her modelling career as well attending classes at the Broadway Dance Centre. In late 2004 she was spotted by music producer Ryan Leslie and the two wrote a duet called "Kiss Me". Leslie played the song for music executive Tommy Mottola. Cassie was offered a managment deal by Mottola and Leslie signed her to his music-media company NextSelection. Leslie wrote and produced Cassie's first single "Me & U" in 2005. Her song became a big hit in Germany, where she traveled on a promotional tour.Leslie convinced Diddy to partner his Bad Boy Records with Leslie's NextSelection imprint for the release of Cassie's debut album. Her debut album was self titled Cassie and was released on August 8, 2006 and sold over 321,000 copies in the US. The single "Me & U" peaked at number one on Billboards Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and number three on the Billboard Hot 100. It sold over 1 million digital downloads. Her follow up single "Long Way 2 Go" was less successful.
In 2008 enough songs were leaked to make up a whole album. Two songs were officially released "Official Girl" and "Is It You". By 2009 at least 20 tracks had been leaked. It was also reported that Cassie was no longer working with Ryan Leslie who had produced the majority of her debut album.In July 2009 Cassie announced the name of her new album will be Electro Love. Three singles have been released from the Electro Love album; "Official Girl", "Must Be Love" and "Lets Get Crazy". Electro love is scheduled to be released in 2010.
Modeling Career
Cassie began modeling at the age of 14, and by the time she was 16, appeared in print ads for Seventeen and the catalog for popular teen line, Delia's, represented by Wilhelmina Models. Cassie has collaborated with popular female street wear line, Dimepiece Clothing, to promote her album, Electro Love. Cassie is the model for the Fall/Winter Dimepiece Lookbook, and her "Cassie x Dimepiece" tanks were released in September 2009.

an artist, Cassie often voiced that she is musically influenced and
inspired by a number of performers. These include Aaliyah, Britney
Spears, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Nine Inch
Nails and Queen of Latin Soul singer La Lupe. She has referred to
herself as a "die-hard Janet Jackson fan" and has expressed, "I'd love
to emulate Janet's career—totally ... She's incredible, from her moves
to her voice."
